The firm
Cameron Scott Law is a virtual firm in Toronto, built to run light with low overhead. That means reasonable fees and that you deal with me from the first call to the last.
What that means in practice
- The fee is agreed first
Work is quoted as a block fee for an agreed scope, confirmed in writing before it begins. Scope can change on a file. When it does, the new price is settled first.
- The firm runs light
It carries what the work needs and not much else. What that buys is not only a lower fee. It also means a single question is a viable engagement in its own right, rather than something that has to grow into a file before it is worth opening.
- One lawyer on the file
The person you speak to first is the person doing the work and the person you call when something changes. Nothing is handed down, and nothing is explained twice.
- The answer comes early
If the exposure is smaller than it looks, or the work costs more than the problem, that is the advice. It makes for a shorter conversation and a more useful one.

Starting a matter
The first conversation carries no charge and no obligation. A short description of the situation is enough — there is no need to prepare anything, and confidential detail is better left until a retainer is in place.
