The content of this website is general information about the firm and the kinds of matters it handles. It is not legal advice, is not a substitute for legal advice, and may not be current. Please do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything here without obtaining advice on your own circumstances.

No solicitor-client relationship

Visiting this site, reading it, or sending an enquiry through it does not create a solicitor-client relationship. A relationship is created only once I have confirmed that I am able to act, conflicts have been checked, and a written retainer has been signed by both of us.

Until that point, information you send is not treated as confidential and is not subject to solicitor-client privilege. I may already act for a person whose interests are adverse to yours. Please do not send confidential or sensitive material before a retainer is in place.

Cameron Scott, Barrister and Solicitor, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, LSO #72062E. Cameron Scott Law is a virtual firm based in Toronto, Ontario. The practice is limited to the law of Ontario and the law of Canada. Where a matter requires advice on the law of another jurisdiction, I bring in counsel qualified there.

Privacy

The enquiry form collects the name, email address, company name and message you choose to provide. That information is sent to me by email and used only to respond to your enquiry and, if an engagement follows, to act on the matter. It is not sold, rented or shared for marketing. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months. Where an engagement follows, the file is retained in accordance with the Law Society's record-keeping requirements.

This site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or tracking scripts. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request.
